Ministry of Health and Sanitation Develops Monitoring and Evaluation Plan for the Health Sector
The Ministry of Health and Sanitation held a stakeholders meeting to finalize a draft Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Plan for the health sector. The plan is being developed by the ministry in collaboration with its health development partners to measure progress towards achieving objectives of the National Health Sector Strategic Plan (NHSSP). The workshop was held for stakeholders in health to identify the main gaps in the draft M&E Plan and priorities for monitoring, and evaluation in accordance with the guidance of the Commission on Information and Accountability for Maternal and Child Health. It was also intended for the MoHS and the partner community to discuss and develop a country roadmap that harmonizes the developed Joint Programme of Work and Funding (JPWF) 2012-2014 to implement the National Health Sector Strategic Plan 2010-2015.
The M&E Plan is being prepared to help health staff improve the quality of monitoring and evaluation within the health sector. It focuses on how monitoring and evaluation can support health services management, and engage stakeholders in understanding progress in health programmes implementation including strengthening accountability for resources and results at all levels in the sector.
